A small boatshop in the heart of the Adirondacks, since 1986, Mason Smith have been building the unique rowing/sailing/motoring Adirondack Goodboat (over 62 in use) and restoring valuable Adirondack guideboats, Rushton lapstrake cedar boats, wood-canvas canoes and an occasional wooden outboard or inboard runabout or larger sailboat. The Goodboats and Chipmunk Canoes are available at half-price in complete kit form, or at any stage of completion. Opportunities occur for people to come and work with Mason to build their own Goodboats, build kit boats of other designers, or apprentice.

In the building of the Buzzards Bay 14, the Buzzards Bay Boat Shop keeps as close to the L. Francis Herreshoff’s design as possible. The most obvious difference is that the hull, bulkheads and deck are built using fiberglass. She is a 17' 9" daysailor that can sail six people comfortably and handles anything from a light drifter day to rough water churned up by the southwester of a typical summer afternoon. This is the perfect boat for both the new sailor just learning the ways of the sea, or the more experienced sailor who appreciates a vessel of this caliber.

EM Crosby Boatworks builds custom boats and have a great collection of production boats. Belonging to the eighth generation of a family long noted for craftsmanship, integrity and pure Yankee ingenuity, Edward M. "Ned" Crosby, Jr. perpetuates a legacy of local boatbuilding begun in the 1700's.

John M. Karbott Boat Building specializes in the custom construction and repair of wooden boats. Rather than offering just one or two particular boats, John custom builds what you want. He has experience in constructing many boats from simple flat bottom skiffs to more elaborate and elegant lapstrake and carvel planked rowing and sailing craft, using both traditional and modern methods and materials. You may provide your own plans, or select from the many designs available to John. With more than 30 years of experience in maintaining and repairing wooden boats from 8' to 40', many of which were used for lobster fishing, Karbott has demostrated the skill required to built some truly classic rowing and sailing designs as well as work skiffs and commercial fishing boats.

The Newfound Woodworks manufactures cove and bead cedar strips for boat construction and prefabricates canoe and kayak kits which are assembled using cedar-strip/epoxy/fiberglass building methods. They provide materials and information to anyone who wants to build a cedar strip/epoxy boat using only some basic hand tools. In addition to our kits, they can provide custom sized cove and bead strips and 1/8" veneer for cold molding larger boats.

Walter Baron of Old Wharf Dory has building boats in Wellfleet, Massachusetts for over 20 years. He has built more than 100 small boats, ranging in size from 7' to 35', from the totally non-practical - a "spirit boat" for an art installation - to Simmons Sea skiffs to commercial boats used hard every day.
